A limited edition piece. The LORTON 006 is a new sleeveless silhouette, knitted in 100% Scottish-spun Lamb's wool. We've taken the traditional British float stitch you loved from our first LORTON release and added onto this new tank shape. Relaxed, but not too oversized, a piece that can be layered for extra warmth or worn alone come spring. Easy and effortless, made by a small team of brilliant knitters in Nottinghamshire, England. A limited edition.

We recommend airing as the best way to look after your knit. That's why we started a club. A Wash Less, Air More Club. We'd love you to join us.

To help manage any pilling, add a complimentary wool comb at checkout.

The Details

Building on the huge success of our first LORTON released in 2022, we have taken the much-loved float stitch and added it onto a new sleeveless silhouette. Worn by itself or layered over a t-shirt. A real forever knit that will stand the test of time.

Each Tank is lovingly crafted taking around 2 and a half hours to perfect. Quality time is spent linking the different sections of the garment together, checking stitch by stitch.

The Tank is fully-fashioned - where each section of the garment is knitted separately and then linked together by hand and hand-finished. This means that not only is this knit of the highest quality, but that there also is minimal, often zero, waste.

The float stitch design across the front is inspired by the classic Scottish Fair Isle sweaters. The stitch is made up of a formation of knit and pearl stitches moving together and floating across one another to create a reverse Fair Isle inspired pattern. Navygrey's take on the classic Scottish design, a tonal textured stitch.

The Tank is finished with a ribbed round neck trim and armholes that extend and cover the shoulder. A modern take on a traditional piece. A true beauty.

The finest Scottish-spun wool

Unlike our previous LORTON styles the Tank is made out of 100% Scottish-spun Lamb's wool. The Tank is knitted into a luxurious 3 gauge, creating a soft and chunky jumper for warmth.

Our superfine wool arrives in Scotland by boat once a year, sourced from a special breed of sheep in South Africa. With a fibre diameter of c. 18.5 microns, it is one of the world's finest and softest Lambs Wools (most average 21-24 microns).

The wool arrives in Scotland by boat, where it is spun and dyed on the banks of Loch Leven in Kinross by Todd & Duncan, one of the finest Scottish Mills which has been spinning yarn for 150+ years.

85% of the dyes used by Todd & Duncan are organic and the water used for washing and dyeing the wool is cleaned and purified before being returned to Loch Leven to be used again. It is a pioneering and cyclical process that helps to protect the environment in and around the loch.
