Real tartan. Woven where it was born. In the Scottish Highlands, Clare and her small team keep a rare craft alive - weaving true tartan on century-old looms, on home soil. Cut by hand, no two are quite the same. The enlarged original tartan creates a graphic statement, perfect for layering with minimalist or classic looks. Delivering infinite styling possibilities - casually wrapped tight or draped for modern ease. The subtle lustre of the fabric, achieved through the natural felting process, gives the scarf a cool kind of luxury - refined and understated. It elevates without effort, to become part of your winter signature. Made in Scotland. With soul.

Where heritage meets modern ease. Registered as an official tartan, its generous square shape - 120cm x 108cm - makes it endlessly versatile. Wrap it your way -light, warm and endlessly chic. Drape it over your shoulders, wrap it close, knot it loose - it always falls just right.

For our Clauran scarf, we weave with our same signature Scottish-spun wool, but due to the nature of the weaving process, the wool takes on a distinct character. Each tartan is lightly milled, dried, and decatised - a meticulous process that creates a subtle, naturally felted finish with a gentle sheen and incredibly cool, smooth handle.

The result is a fabric that regulates body temperature, resists pilling, and captures the pure softness of Scottish wool in a refined, elevated form.

Less is best. Caring for 100% natural wool knitwear doesn't have to be complicated, we promise.

WASH LESS, AIR MORE
We recommend airing your scarf regularly, with an occasional gentle hand wash in a basin - never the machine. To maintain its soft sheen and smooth finish, lightly iron and steam on a medium heat to restore the wool to its original, beautifully flat state.

MANAGING PILLING
Soft fibres are liable to pill to some extent, even when it's the best wools in the world. We recommend gently removing them with this specialist fabric shaver. It really is a game changer for keeping your knits in tip top condition.

Each scarf comes in a paper bag and is shipped in boxes made from post-consumer waste in the UK.

The Making of

Our Clauran scarf is crafted in Evanton by Claire and her small team, woven delicately on legacy 20th-century shuttle looms to create a luxurious feel with a perfectly balanced weft and warp.

Built in 1929, these looms produce a traditional selvage that only true shuttle weaving can achieve - a mark of quality now rare in the UK. Each Shuttle Loom has a chain - for this specific project the tartan chain was Claire's largest ever at 1,000 lengths, and built entirely by hand over three days - a record even for Martin, who’s been in the industry for 60 years.

Woven on equipment that values people over machines, the Clauran scarf honours the human craft at the heart of tartan.

Finished through light milling and decatisation for a subtle sheen and softly felted texture, it offers a cool, smooth handle that regulates body temperature and limits pilling - a timeless expression of craftsmanship and care.
