To those that wore it before us

Grandpa's Cardigan

Every Sunday, my grandfather wore the same cardigan.

Soft at the elbows. A little stretched at the pockets.
Familiar in a way only well-loved things are. A knit shaped by the way he lived in it.

For a long time, I didn’t think much about it.
But as the years passed, that cardigan taught me something.

About ease.
About repetition.
About the beautiful simplicity of the layer you return to without question.

Years later, it became the reference point - the spark behind our cardigan.
A layering piece with that same sense of familiarity.

Something that settles on the shoulders and feels instantly right.

Grandpa always paired his with a polo.
It’s funny, but I’ve started to do the same.

Warmth without bulk, layered under a coat.
Chic. Consistent. Easy.
Grandpa really was onto something.

Clothes have that power - to connect people across generations.

And since starting Navygrey, that’s become one of my favourite things: seeing daughters, mothers and grandmothers all wearing our knits, each in their own way.

It’s style and stories like this where Navygrey really begins - in the pieces you live in, week after week, year after year.

To cardigans
and polos.

Built on feeling. Worn on repeat.
