Our Brand Manifesto
Champion British Wool
Homegrown wool. It's on our doorstep or near enough depending on your postcode. By sourcing natural fibres like wool from British born and bred sheep, we can tick all sorts of boxes, from lowered carbon emissions to a complete avoidance of synthetic materials. But there's something in the rearing and shearing of heritage British breeds like Bluefaced Leicester and Masham from farms in the north-west that enriches our knits with deeper meaning, supporting our British farming communities along the way. We're even developing our very own British wool yarns that will be completely unique to the Navygrey collection.
While much of our wool is British through and through, we go beyond our shores when we want a smoother fibre and softer knit. The nature of our climate means British wool is typically coarser and feels more like alpaca, which is why our Scottish mill in Kinross sources and ships by boat our lambswool from certified farms in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa that measures at 18.5 microns and is closer to cashmere (there's a reason we avoid cashmere altogether, which you can read all about in our Never Pulling The Wool Over Your Eyes article).
